Database Administrator with a SECRET Clearance/SSBI

We are currently searching for a talented, professional “Database Administrator” in Portsmouth, VA. We are looking for a candidate with Information Technology (IT) services background for a Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY) contract.  Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY) is responsible to the Commander, Naval Sea Command (NAVSEA) for providing logistic support for assigned ships and service craft, most importantly to safely repair U.S. Naval Warships to technical standards on time and at cost. NNSY Command Information Office (CIO) provides overall IT support for the shipyard. The CIO department (Code 109) and the associated network capabilities are currently supporting activities which directly contribute to Navy Fleet readiness.

 

Responsibilities:

·         Perform the following Database Administration tasks:

1.      Requirements analysis, designing, developing and administering database applications.

2.      Providing operational support of computer hardware, system software, applications software, and system and user data files as configured within the associated database system.

3.      Providing maintenance for the integrity of all user/system data files, data verification following system restoration/recovery procedures, and data format conversion procedures during the import and/or export of data.

4.      Providing database reporting/printout support.

5.      Supporting development of operating procedures and user technical manuals. Support is provided to a variety of database systems (e.g., Oracle, Sybase, and/or Informix).

6.      Developing and implementing applications in microcomputer environment.

7.      Implementation of relational databases.

8.      Managing information and developing reports using database management system.

9.      Working knowledge of IA/IO concepts and A&A process.

10.  SharePoint 2010 and up, Microsoft Access, XML, jQuery, Java Script, HTML, and VBA.

11.  Working with Microsoft Access 2010 and up.

12.  Working with SharePoint 2010 and up.

13.  Installing and administering IT hardware and software including (but not limited to):  Microsoft Windows Operating Systems, Visual Studio.NET 2008, SharePoint, Oracle Enterprise Manager, TOAD, ColdFusion, SQL, VBS, ASP, C#, JavaScript, ADP/RDS database handlers, Apache Tomcat, MS Access, Oracle, Solaris, Symantec, HBSS, Storage Manager Server (SAN), LTO Tape Library, RedHat, Oracle server hardware, HP SAN, NetApp Storage Hardware, and Windows server hardware (Dell, HP).

14.  The ability to move and maneuver up to 50 pounds of weight (computer hardware, accessories, support equipment, etc.).

 

Required Skills:

·         Three (3) years of experience providing database and associated database systems administration.  The Database Administrator shall have demonstrated relevant experience.  Examples of relevant experience may include the following:

1.      Technical specialized experience conducting requirements analysis, designing, developing and administering database applications.

2.      Providing operational support of computer hardware, system software, applications software, and system and user data files as configured within the associated database system.

3.      Providing maintenance for the integrity of all user/system data files, data verification following system restoration/recovery procedures, and data format conversion procedures during the import and/or export of data.

4.      Providing database reporting/printout support.

5.      Supporting development of operating procedures and user technical manuals. Support is provided to a variety of database systems (e.g., Oracle, Sybase, and/or Informix).

6.      Developing and implementing applications in microcomputer environment.

7.      Implementation of relational databases.

13.  Experience with the knowledge and proficiency to install and administer IT hardware and software including (but not limited to):  Microsoft Windows Operating Systems, Visual Studio.NET 2008, SharePoint, Oracle Enterprise Manager, TOAD, ColdFusion, SQL, VBS, ASP, C#, JavaScript, ADP/RDS database handlers, Apache Tomcat, MS Access, Oracle, Solaris, Symantec, HBSS, Storage Manager Server (SAN), LTO Tape Library, RedHat, Oracle server hardware, HP SAN, NetApp Storage Hardware, and Windows server hardware (Dell, HP).

·         Certifications:

1.      IAT Level II Baseline Certification Required (i.e. CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+, SSCP)

2.      Operating System/Computer Environment Training – Oracle Database 11g Admin, OCP or 1Z0-061/047 & 1Z0-052 & 1Z0-053

 

Education: 

·         Contractor shall have a Bachelor’s Degree in an IT related discipline AND at least three (3) years of experience as described above; OR five (5) years of relevant experience as described above.
