SQL Administrator with a SECRET Clearance/SSBI

We are currently searching for a talented, professional “SQL Administrator” in Portsmouth, VA. We are looking for a candidate with Information Technology (IT) services background for a Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY) contract.  Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY) is responsible to the Commander, Naval Sea Command (NAVSEA) for providing logistic support for assigned ships and service craft, most importantly to safely repair U.S. Naval Warships to technical standards on time and at cost. NNSY Command Information Office (CIO) provides overall IT support for the shipyard. The CIO department (Code 109) and the associated network capabilities are currently supporting activities which directly contribute to Navy Fleet readiness.

 

Responsibilities:

·         Administer SQL by:

1.      Managing servers, and application environments critical to business processing. This includes working with application teams responsible for hosted apps, performing application and OS updates as needed, and maintaining server security and compliance as required by policy and standards.

2.      Performing daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes.

3.      Working knowledge of MS SQL, ORACLE, FoxPro, and MYSQL databases.

4.      Managing and maintaining database backups, define and control database replication needs, and development of database triggers and stored procedures under the direction of Senior Programmers and Project Managers.

5.      Developing, testing, and running data conversion programs

 

Required Skills:

·         Three (3) years of expert level SQL administrator experience and support.   The SQL Administrator shall have demonstrated relevant experience. Examples of relevant experience may include the following:

1.      Managing servers, and application environments critical to business processing. This includes working with application teams responsible for hosted apps, performing application and OS updates as needed, and maintaining server security and compliance as required by policy and standards.

2.      Performing daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes.

3.      Working knowledge of MS SQL, ORACLE, FoxPro, and MYSQL databases.

4.      Managing and maintaining database backups, define and control database replication needs, and development of database triggers and stored procedures under the direction of Senior Programmers and Project Managers.

5.      Developing, testing, and running data conversion programs

·         Certifications:

1.      IAT Level II Baseline Certification Required (i.e. CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+, SSCP)

2.      Operating System/Computer Environment Training – SkillPort 70-432 or MCTS SQL Server 2008; SkillPort 461, 70-462 & 70-463 or MCSA SQL Server 2012

 

Education: 

·         Contractor shall have a Bachelor’s Degree in an IT related discipline AND at least three (3) years of experience as described above OR five (5) years of relevant experience as described above.
